Wellspring Christian Church
is an autonomous Christian Church affiliated with Australian Christian Churches. JESUS CHRIST IS OUR LORD, AND SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD, and we are saved by God’s grace through an active faith in His Son, Jesus’ completed work here on earth. Wellspring is a local expression of His worldwide Church, which is now representative of Christ here on earth, and each believer is called to be an active participant in the life of the Church. WE BELIEVE
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three equal persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 Corinthians 14:14). Mankind is made in the image of God; to be like Him in character. Although mankind has tremendous potential, we are marred by sin, an attitude of disobedience toward God. This sinful nature separates us from God, and we can only be reconciled to Him through an active faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2). We are created eternal beings to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. The place of eternal dying and separation from God is called Hell. The place of eternal life and union with God is called Heaven. (John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; Matthew 25:41; Revelation 21:27). JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the only perfect and acceptable payment for the penalty of everyone’s sins through His crucifixion and death on the Cross at Calvary. After three days, God raised Him from the dead and demonstrated His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again to earth for those who believe in Him and follow His ways. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; John 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13). No-one knows when Jesus Christ will return, only God the Father. (Mark 13:32; Acts 1:7-8). "For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). |
THE BIBLE IS GOD'S WORD OF TRUTH
and helps us know how to live and worship according to His Will. (John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:14-16). The Bible instructs us to "Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only" (Matthew 4:10); To sing praises to God (Hebrews 13:15); To clap our hands in praise (Psalm 47:1); To lift our hands in prayer and worship (Psalm 63:4); And even encourages us to dance (Psalm 149:3). WE BAPTISE IN WATER because Jesus told us to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19). WE SHARE COMMUNION because Jesus told us to remember Him often as we share the Bread and the Cup … so we make the opportunity to eat and drink together regularly, and remember Him. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). WE GIVE to support the work of the Gospel and the Kingdom of God. All things belong to God, the Creator of all things. He has given us the ability to produce wealth and we honour Him with all we are and all we have. He meets all our need and gives us an abundance for every good work. He promises to produce a rich harvest from our generosity. (Luke 8:1-8, Psalm 24; Deuteronomy 8:18, Proverbs 3:9-10, 2 Corinthians 9:6-12). JESUS TOLD US ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT. He told the disciples that, although He would soon be going away to heaven to be with the Father, the Father would be sending the Holy Spirit to help those who believe. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, and He brings new life to our spirit and causes a living connection between us and God. This is what Jesus meant when He said, ‘you must be born again.’ (John 14:26, John 3:3-7). THE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS US TO LIVE THE LIFE WE WERE CREATED FOR. God’s Spirit gives us strength and wisdom beyond our natural understanding, to live the life God has purposed us to live. (Acts 2:38-39, Acts 19:2-6, 1 Corinthians 12, Acts 1:8). |
